Handcrafted by villagers in Ban Naphia, Xiangkhoang Province, Laos, these unique earrings are made from recycled metal, a powerful symbol of resilience and creativity. Laos, the most heavily bombed country in the world due to the Indochina War, still contends with unexploded ordnance (UXO).
With the support of the Mines Advisory Group (MAG), villagers safely collect UXO and scrap metal, transforming these remnants of conflict into beautiful, wearable art. The metal is melted over fire and poured into sand molds, giving each piece its distinctive character.
Wearing these earrings is not just a fashion statement—it’s a tribute to human ingenuity, courage, and the enduring spirit of a community turning past trauma into hope.
